Do you wish your kiddos were reaching for the veggies, but all they want are sweets? Check out these Sneaky Brownies that have a special ingredient you won’t believe and definitely won’t taste!
But instead of oil, we are going to get sneaky… no, not applesauce….
We are going to substitute the 1/2 cup of oil for…
Wait for it…
Spinach Puree!
Now before you start calling me Popeye, stay with me…
I thought the brownies wouldn’t be chewy on the edges. But I baked them in my Brownie Pan and crossed my fingers anyhow.
I was really surprised. After they cooled, the edges were still nice and chewy!
But the real test was if they could pass the Miss Add and Puddie test… so very sneaky like I offered them up and peered from the kitchen to see their reaction.
Would they notice something… different?
They ooed and ahhed over the truffle mix and never even noticed my sneaky little maneuver 😉
So what did I use for the Spinach Puree?
Well the GOODe people over at Green Giant sent me these nifty Veggie Blend-Ins that are 100% pure spinach, carrots or butternut squash purees to blend right into my dishes.
Word is (for you locals) that our Marsh stores are now carrying these babies!
If you don’t have access to the super convenient puree pouches you can always make your own puree by following these steps:
Enjoy!
