Just as the weather is turning cold around here for good until those wonderful first warm days of spring, my mailbox bursted with one last summer blast when this flavorful find– Fresh from the Farmstand — arrived from my friends at Gooseberry Patch.

Truth be told, I have been busy in the kitchen ever since… and surprisingly, I have found some very flavorful ways to ring in the winter season… although I can’t wait for those summer time fruits and veggies next summer to really give this book a go…

Confession time… while I awaited your vote on the recipes you wanted me to share, I cheated and whipped up a few things that I just couldn’t wait to try.

Things like Jo Ann’s very own Roasted Tomato Soup… which just so happened to be a lovely perfect companion to my Grilled 3 Cheese. I had never made tomato soup from scratch before, but when I saw this was Jo Ann’s recipe AND it involved balsamic vinegar… I knew I had to try it. Oh my word, it was GOODe! We loved it!

I also cheated and whipped up some 40 Clove Chicken. I was so curious to try this rustic dish and I just happened to have a jar of peeled garlic cloves reaching their expiration date, so I took it as a sign from above that I had to make it 😉 We really enjoyed this simple and filling dish and the presentation was just beautiful… made us feel like we were eating somethin’ fancy 😉

Now, while I had fun trying these recipes, some of the real gems of the book came from your vote…

Among our favorites?

The Whole- Grain Berry Coffee Cake is divine!

This dense cake is just sweet enough to let your taste buds know they are in for a real treat and hearty enough to keep you going until lunch time.

The Green Goddess Bacon Salad could get any meat-lover to eat their greens! This yummy salad has chicken, eggs and bacon (of course) sprinkled through a bed of veggies that not only makes you feel good about what you are eating, but fully satisfied too.

The Savory Monkey Bread was amazing! We so loved this flavorful herbed bread to accompany our meals. I cannot wait to try it with the herbs I am growing in my new AeroGarden.

Now, I will share all of these yummy recipes in addition to the 4 Ingredient Broccoli Soup, Spinach Dip Bread Bowl, Light and Lemony Potato Salad and Made From Scratch Carrot Cake in the coming days as promised.

In the meantime, you can pre-order Fresh from the Farmstand from Amazon for just over $10!

Or, if you are feeling lucky, you can enter to win a copy BEFORE it hits store shelves in January!

Note: If you are joining us from email OR feed, you will need to visit the blog to enter on the widget below.

A great fruit to cook with is lemon. Its very good for you, and even adds a little flavor.

I love to cook with broccoli. I love it and my kids love it. It’s one of the few veggies my husband dislikes, but will eat because of some of my preparations!
