Did you guys know that Gooseberry Patch is featuring Sweet & Simple as their cookbook of the week this week?
In honor of this occasion, I have decided to finish up my 10 posts for my Real Farmwives of America and Friends’ In the Kitchen with Gooseberry Patch project (whew that was a mouth full!)
Then tomorrow I will share a homemade Orange Sherbet recipe (only 2 ingredients!!!) before doing a recap and posting a giveaway of this sweet treat of a book…
So without further ado…
Ok… let me start by saying this is serious GOODe stuff…
I was shocked at just how much we loved it…
You just take 1/3 cup brown sugar– packed of course… do you ever NOT pack brown sugar???
Mix that with 8 oz of cream cheese… I used the Weight Watchers “spread” to help me from “spreading” myself with all these yummy sweet treats… just sayin’
It worked just fine.
And a very powerful 1/2 teaspoon of Caramel extract…
Truth be told, I had no idea there was such a thing.
Finding this lead me to other life altering questions like…
Is it pronounced CAR-MELL or CARE- A- MELL?
I say CAR-MELL… so do a lot of other people I know…
Are we saying it wrong?
Is it a regional thing?
Or are CARE-A-MELL and CAR-MELL two different things?
Or is it a POTATO-PATATO type of thing?
How have I went all my life not knowing this?
One thing I DO know is that after you mix those ingredients all together it is GOODe and that is really all that matters…

Cranberry Morning says
Yeah, I say car-mell too. But anyway you say it, it does look delicious – and like a must-make recipe!
