Confessions of a Food Blogging Momma

Aunt Lou here.

I am a food blogger. I am a momma. I have confessions to make and a secret to tell.

You, dear reader, see the beautiful and scrumditiliumptious foods that I make each week here and on Recipes That Crock. The food is delicious and sometimes even made from scratch. It is so easy for someone to look at those pretty pictures and think that I might even think about having it all together.

Confession #1

I make go- to- from- a- box-throw-together-in-less-than- 15 minutes dinners when I really don’t feel like cooking. Want an example?

This night we had Banquet Sailsbury Steaks with Gravy, instant garlic mash potatoes and brown and serve rolls.

Bing. Bang. Boom. Suppers is on the table, and I didn’t truly make a single part of it.

Confession #2

When I don’t feel good or just really don’t feel like it, my dishes don’t get done around here.

This drives my husband crazy. He absolutely hates it when the dishes aren’t done every night…it doesn’t sit well with his OCD. Obviously, it didn’t bother him enough to do them for me, but it did bother him enough to pout and sulk about it every night. lol (Disclosure: He is SUPER helpful around the house and does a ton more than most men think about doing, but he hates doing dishes with a passion.)

Above is the stack of dishes that piled up before I felt like doing the dishes again.  Ugh. Not fun.

Super Mommy Secrets

So why tell you all this? Why share the not so perfect side of the James’ house?

I share it to tell all you wonderful Mommas out there that it is okay.

It is okay if you don’t have the perfect made from scratch meal for your family every night.

It is okay to throw together a fall back meal when you’ve had a tough day.

It is okay to let your dishes pile up for a day or two or three when you don’t feel good or just when you want some extra play time with your little ones or snuggle time with your honey or maybe just MAYBE you can use that extra time to treat yourself to a nice long bubble bath.

So hang in there ladies and remember that it is okay…no one is perfect no matter how pretty their pictures are. 😉
