Freezin’ Peaches

The other day I took my 2 pecks of peaches…

And after mauwin’ down on several and making a couple things, I turned those babies into 72 cups of Peach FREEZE-O-RAMA GOODeness!

I prefer to freeze peaches vs. can them… I think they retain their perfect summer peachy flavor that way.

So after peelin’ and peelin’ and peelin’ some more, I was finally ready to process those babies.

My Super Mommy Secret to fabulous frozen peaches is no real secret at all… it is contained right here in this little bottle of Fruit Fresh.

So I got to slicing up my peaches and used my batter bowl to separate out 8 cups out at a time.

Once I reached 8 cups, I added the Fruit Fresh per the bottle’s instructions and bagged them up.

Now, you could add your sugar in before bagging them, but I prefer to wait to see if I want to add extra sugar depending on the recipe.

Do you freeze fruit? What summer treats do you freeze up to brighten up those long winter months?

I have never used the fruit fresh before.  Thanks for the tip.  I will have to try it.  I usually just sprinkle some sugar on a cookie sheet and put a layer of peaches on top and freeze them individually before putting them in bags.  Also, for pealing them, if you put the peaches in a pan of boiling water for a couple of minutes and then in cold water in the sink, the pealing pulls right off really easy with your fingers.  You don’t even have to use a knife!

Larissa beat us to our blanching peaches tip…it’s a good one! Thanks for the tip about Fruit Fresh too. Did you find this with the other canning supplies at the grocery or…? Thanks for linking up to the Round-Up Cris! 🙂

I will freeze anything I can before canning. I have strawberries, cherries, gooseberries, blackberries and apples in my garden. I freeze them all. Then when winter comes and I have more time (ha ha) I will make my jams from the frozen fruit. Works great! Most all my garden veggies are frozen too. Love my freezer! Love your blog!
