Truth be told, from the first time I flipped through Sweet & Simple
, I was totally intrigued by this recipe for homemade Orange Sherbet.
I just couldn’t believe that this only took two ingredients….
Since my ice cream maker
couldn’t hold 2 liters of soda, I halved the recipe, using 4 cups of soda and 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk.
I mixed them together and poured right into my ice cream maker…
20 minutes later it was done and I popped it into a container and froze over night…
Now, truth be told, I was expecting to bite into this and taste a push pop… and that was not really what it tasted like.
It tasted a lot like a homemade ice cream Puddie used to make with a hint of orange flavor.
Although it wasn’t what I expected, the texture was spot on and the flavor was pleasing…
Which got me thinking about one of my childhood favorite treats…
Big Red floats…
I am soo going to give this recipe another shot using Big Red and maybe even root beer and see what happens.
