Orange Sherbet Ice CreamTruth be told, from the first time I flipped through Sweet & Simple, I was totally intrigued by this recipe for homemade Orange Sherbet.

Orange Sherbet Ice CreamI just couldn’t believe that this only took two ingredients….

Orange Sherbet Ice CreamSince my ice cream maker couldn’t hold 2 liters of soda, I halved the recipe, using 4 cups of soda and 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk.

Orange Sherbet Ice CreamI mixed them together and poured right into my ice cream maker…

Orange Sherbet Ice Cream20 minutes later it was done and I popped it into a container and froze over night…

Orange Sherbet Ice CreamNow, truth be told, I was expecting to bite into this and taste a push pop… and that was not really what it tasted like.

It tasted a lot like a homemade ice cream Puddie used to make with a hint of orange flavor.

Although it wasn’t what I expected, the texture was spot on and the flavor was pleasing…

Which got me thinking about one of my childhood favorite treats…

Big Red floats…

I am soo going to give this recipe another shot using Big Red and maybe even root beer and see what happens.
