We recently made a Crock Pot Banana Bread and undoubtedly when we “bake” something in the slow cooker I always get questions about why someone would want to make things in the slow cooker the could “more easily” be made in the oven. While there are MANY reasons readers love to use their slow cookers for such recipes (travel, energy savings, broken oven, etc.), there are also times when it just isn’t practical…like when mama wants some banana bread and now, it doesn’t make sense to wait an hour or two longer 😉

So we decided to convert the Crock Pot Banana Bread recipe we altered from Slow Cooker Fall Favorites into an oven recipe for convenience.

Homemade Banana Bread Recipe

Ingredients for Homemade Banana Bread

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

How to Make Homemade Banana Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Put your butter and sugar in a large bowl and beat until well combined and fluffy
  3. Add in your eggs and beat until they are mix in well
  4. Grab a different bowl and mix together your flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda
  5. Alternate back and forth between adding a little of your flour mixture and a little of your banana to your sugar mixture while stirring until all is combined well
  6. Sprinkle your chopped walnuts on top and stir into your batter
  7. Pour your batter into a greased standard loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes until golden and fully set.
  9. Cool in pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a rack to finish cooling before cutting.
