Aunt Lou here.

I first had these Easy Apple Dumplings at work. Everyone would draw another person’s name out of a hat. Whoever ended up with your name was in charge of getting together a little shindig for your birthday. Well, I don’t remember whose birthday it was, but I DO remember that Susan was the one in charge. She brought the most amazing apple dumplings. They were gone in a flash, but I made sure I got my fair share!

She had so many of us begging for the recipe, she sent out an email…and I have been making them ever since.

The first time I ever brought these to a cookout, a man I had never met before told me, “Honey, you don’t have to come to the next cookout, but you DO have to make sure these are here!” I wasn’t sure if that was a compliment or an insult, so I just replied, “Umm…thanks?” 🙂

Over the last four years, I have become known in Michael’s family for these Easy Apple Dumplings. We were recently at a cookout that was a mix of family and friends. Someone asked about the desserts and who made what. One of my in-laws piped up, “I don’t know about the rest, but I know who made the apple dumplings!”

They are SO easy to make and SO delicious, I am sure you will find yourself making them time and time again just like me!

Easy Apple Dumplings

Preheat your oven to 350.

Core, slice and peel your apple. (The recipe says into 1/8th pieces, but my slicer does 10 pieces, so I just eat the extra two slices as a treat!)

Note: Smaller apples work best for fitting all 24 in a 9×13 dish

Roll each apple slice in one crescent roll starting with the small end making sure the entire apple slice is covered, then pinch it closed.

Place in a greased 9×13 dish.

Repeat with remaining apple slices and crescent rolls.

Melt your butter and mix in your sugar and cinnamon.

Pour your butter mixture over dumplings.

Pour a can of Mt. Dew over everything.

Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until golden.

If you are taking this to a pitch-in and want some leftovers, take them out before leaving, because I’ve never came home with any!
