  • 1 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 c milk
  • 1/2 c water
  1. If you are using a dutch oven, make a campfire with at least 21 charcoal briquettes. If using an oven, preheat your oven to 350.
  2. Drain the juice from your peaches and place in a greased 10" dutch oven or 9 or 10" square or round pan.
  3. Mix together 1/2 c of sugar with your butter.
  4. In a different bowl, mix together your flour, baking powder and salt.
  5. Combine your milk and two mixtures.
  6. Place spoonfuls of the batter evenly across the top of the peaches. Do not stir.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of sugar over top of the batter.
  8. Pour your water over everything. Do not stir.
  9. If using a dutch oven, make a ring with 7 hot charcoal briquettes and set your dutch oven on top.
  10. Place your lid on your dutch oven and arrange 14 hot briquettes on top.
  11. Cook for one hour rotating the lid carefully 1/4 of a turn to the left and the oven 1/4 of a turn to the right every 15 minutes.
  12. If using a oven, bake for one hour.
