We take walks in the park often and the scenario is always the same… (Similar scenarios happen anywhere we go).
(BIG WAVE) “Hi! My name’s Addie. What’s your name?”
(Unexpectedly, some passer-by smiles almost uncontrollably)
“Hi Brenda! I’m four! Meet my mom, her name is Cris!”
If the person has a dog, she asks to pet their dog, and asks his name.
If they are a runner, she runs with them… and they are always so taken-a- back.
But regardless, they walk (or run) away with a smile on their face and a little joy in their step.
For that moment, she makes them feel like they are the only person in the world.
And, the next person up… well, they- even the fussiest of buckets-You can see the hope on their face-even if they won’t admit it- that she might take notice of them too…
And, she does and hearts warm all over again…
I always walk away wondering when we stopped doing that for other people…
And hoping that I can touch someone’s life in the same small but poignant way that she does so often.
Gosh I hope she never out grows it, she is soo good at it.

You should be so proud – of her and of the parent that you are that made her that way!

What a sweetheart she is! And to think of what joy people get from one sweet smile and cheerful gesture made by a child. I doubt that she will outgrow it, for it sounds like she’s established the pattern pretty well. What a blessing!

This post made ME smile and nod my head and think “yep that is Miss Add.” When I’m taking a walk near my house or walking down a sidewalk and someone approaches, I do try to make an effort to make eye contact, smile and say hello but it is HARD sometimes. This is a good reminder that we should all make an effort.
