While listening to Jeremy Camp’s Give Me Jesus– a song we listen to all the time– Miss Add comes up to me visibly upset…
“Mommy, why does he say Give Me Jesus?”
“Well, because he needs Jesus.”
Then those big blue eyes look up at me with tears welling up and she says to me– her hand over heart…
“But I don’t want to give away my Jesus”
A lengthy discussion over how no one can take Jesus from her heart, and that we all can have Jesus in our heart if we want to followed while she held back her tears.
Hesitant at first, but eventually coming to terms with the thought, Miss Add said she understood…
GOODe thing, otherwise it was clear that Mr. Camp was going to have a fight on his hands with Miss Add…
I was taken aback by her passion… and quietly wondered if my own resolve paled in comparison.

1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.
3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Wow! thanks for posting this. From the mouths of babes. I hope you don’t mind, but I tweeted this link to Jeremy Camp (not sure if you already had or someone else had, but thought he just had to read this). I pray she always wants to keep her Jesus-and then shares him when she’s old enough to understand he is enough for all of us!

Beautiful post. How precious is the love of a child who understands little of theology, but loves and trusts her Savior. Sweet faith that simply rests in Jesus.
