Not Ready For You

When it comes to Miss Add, my father has a way of encouragement that I often sit back in awe of…

Much like when we were kids, Papaw always paints a vision of the greatest expectations…

You can do anything you put your mind to ya know…

Don’t we all need someone like that in our lives?

I have always thought that was the true mark of great leaders… those who inspire others to see how great they can be…

great

I think back on exchange between Papaw and Miss Add that day…

Papaw had just got a new horse, Boomer, that he was in the process of breaking.

“Papaw, I want to ride Boomer today”

“Oh Miss Add, one day you can ride Boomer, but he just isn’t ready for you yet.”

“Oh…”

“Ya see Miss Add, you are such a great rider you need a special horse and Boomer needs some work before he is ready for you”

“Oh! Okay!”

“Now Oakley is just right for you.”

It may seem simple, but how different this world would be if we all talked to each other this way.

Miss Add wasn’t told she was too little, incapable or ill-equipped… she was told the horse wasn’t ready for her yet…

Sure Miss Add still needs to clock some horse riding hours, and this instruction wasn’t in substitution of that, but rather in encouragement to keep her going and growin’.

Truth be told, we all have horses that aren’t ready for us quite yet… but that doesn’t mean our goals aren’t attainable…

Are you surrounding yourself with folks that keep you in the saddle ridin’ forward?

This is great – you both are lucky to have him in your lives and he is lucky to have you both and that you recognize it!

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Fabulous outlook and what a way to empower Miss Add…while reminding each of us to surround ourselves by people that encourage and not tear down. Thanks Cris!
