You can use any kind of beans, I use large lima beans, but there are small limas, and green limas, but I use the whites, you can use Navy beans, or northern, put in one lb of beans, soak them over night, and in the morning, fill the pan to just barely cover the beans, and put in your ham, , and use a couple of ham hocks, this adds flaver, cook on a midium simmer, check your beans for tenderness, if you are using a crock pot, put on high for 3-4 hours..
