Cheerios Pirate Adventure

I don’t know about you, but Miss Add and I are sooo tired of this snowy cold weather.

Cheerios Blogger Circle

So, when Cheerios asked us to come up with a fun spring time Cheerios experience, we jumped at the chance to put our imagination caps and think up a super fun activity we would do just as soon as this snow clears.

We decided my little explorer would love to go on a Cheerios Pirate Adventure, since she loves nothing more than to grab her telescope and dress up in last year’s Halloween Costume.

Arrgh Matey!

So, mommy grabbed her latest box of Cheerios, some paper and some markers and got down to work.

First up, crumple up a piece of paper…

Pirate maps aren’t nice and tidy after all.

This particular map is well over a hundred years old don’t ya know…

Now take your markers and turn your backyard into an enchanted land…
We had the Spooky Forrest…

The Mighty Oak… Flower Island
The Ring O Fire…
And, “x” marked the spot right smack dab in the middle of Mt. Rockmore.
Now imagine that it is nice and warm outside… Ah, isn’t that better?
I would take some of my Cheerios outside and drop little Cheerio paths in my backyard to help my fun enchanted map come to life for Miss Add.
We would then go on our adventure to find the red “x” following the Cheerios paths while using our ancient map.
Our treasure would be found when we made our way to the big red “x” where our afternoon snack would be awaiting us for the day.
Come to think of it, this could even be made into a fun adaptation for a traditional egg hunt.
As Add gets older, we could reverse roles and let her make the map and lay out the enchanted land.
Let’s just hope she has better navigational skills than her mama!
Miss Add was intrigued.
As soon as she saw her adventure map, she knew exactly what she needed to do…
She dug out her pirating gear and started imagining all the backyard fun we are going to have this spring.
And, most importantly… we were going to find the “x”!
So, I decided that we didn’t have to wait until spring to do that… I made and “x” and tucked it into the bottom of her snack bowl.
Covered it up with her Cheerios snack.
And my little pirate found her treasure after all.
Argh!
What activities do you look forward to this Spring?

Too cute! We did our craft today, but yours was so sweet. I love that idea, and your map was so well drawn. I don't think pirates' handwriting is quite that neat 🙂 Love it – and please please let spring come soon!
